First Bollywood movies in 5cr, 10cr, 20cr, 50cr, 100cr, 200cr, 300cr 500cr, 1000cr club

 Bollywood is the largest film industry in the world, producing over 1000 films each year. In recent years, the box office collections of Bollywood movies have been breaking records and creating new milestones. In this article, we will discuss the first Bollywood movies to cross the 5 crore, 10 crore, and 20 crore.Rs. 50 crore, Rs. 100 crore, Rs. 200 crore, Rs. 300 crore, Rs. 500 crore, and Rs. 1000 crore marks.



5 Crore Club:

In the early 90s, Bollywood was still struggling with the concept of big-budget movies. The first Bollywood movie to cross the 5 crore mark was "Hum Aapke Hain Koun" (1994). The film was directed by Sooraj Barjatya and starred Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit in the lead roles. The movie was made on a budget of approximately 2 crore and went on to gross around 70 crore at the box office.

However, in the year 1999, the movie "Hum Saath-Saath Hain" also directed by Sooraj Barjatya broke the record set by "Hum Aapke Hain Koun" and became the first Bollywood movie to cross the 5 crore mark in its opening weekend. The movie was made on a budget of approximately 8 crore and went on to gross around 56 crore at the box office.



10 Crore Club:

In the early 2000s, Bollywood started experimenting with bigger budgets and new genres. In 2001, the movie "Gadar: Ek Prem Katha" directed by Anil Sharma, broke the record set by "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" (1998) and became the first Bollywood movie to cross the 10 crore mark. The movie starred Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel in the lead roles and was made on a budget of approximately 18 crore. The movie went on to gross around 77 crore at the box office.

Another movie that deserves a mention in this category is "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham" (2001) directed by Karan Johar. The movie was made on a budget of approximately 40 crore and grossed around 135 crore at the box office.



20 Crore Club:

In the late 2000s, Bollywood started seeing more and more movies crossing the 20 crore mark. In 2008, the movie "Ghajini" directed by A.R. Murugadoss broke all records and became the first Bollywood movie to cross the 100 crore mark. The movie was made on a budget of approximately 65 crore and went on to gross around 232 crore at the box office.

Another movie that deserves a mention in this category is "3 Idiots" (2009) directed by Rajkumar Hirani. The movie starred Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, and R. Madhavan in the lead roles and was made on a budget of approximately 35 crore. The movie went on to gross around 459 crore at the box office.

Rs. 50 crore club
The Rs. 50 crore club was first established in 2008 when Aamir Khan's Ghajini became the first Bollywood movie to cross this milestone. The movie was directed by A.R. Murugadoss and was a remake of a Tamil film with the same name. Ghajini was released on 25th December 2008 and went on to earn a total of Rs. 114 crore at the box office.


Rs. 100 crore club

The Rs. 100 crore club was established in 2010 when Aamir Khan's 3 Idiots became the first Bollywood movie to cross this milestone. The movie was directed by Rajkumar Hirani and also starred R. Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Kareena Kapoor, and Boman Irani. 3 Idiots was released on 25th December 2009 and went on to earn a total of Rs. 459 crore at the box office.


Rs200 crore club

The Rs. 200 crore club was established in 2012 when Salman Khan's Ek Tha Tiger became the first Bollywood movie to cross this milestone. The movie was directed by Kabir Khan and also starred Katrina Kaif. Ek Tha Tiger was released on 15th August 2012 and went on to earn a total of Rs. 320 crore at the box office.



Rs. 300 crore club

The Rs. 300 crore club was established in 2013 when Aamir Khan's Dhoom 3 became the first Bollywood movie to cross this milestone. The movie was directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya and also starred Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan, and Uday Chopra. Dhoom 3 was released on 20th December 2013 and went on to earn a total of Rs. 556 crore at the box office


Rs. 500 crore club

The Rs. 500 crore club was established in 2015 when Salman Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan became the first Bollywood movie to cross this milestone. The movie was directed by Kabir Khan and also starred Kareena Kapoor. Bajrangi Bhaijaan was released on 17th July 2015 and went on to earn a total of Rs. 969.06 crore at the box office.


Rs. 1000 crore club

The Rs. 1000 crore club was established in 2017 when SS Rajamouli's Baahubali 2: The Conclusion became the first Indian movie to cross this milestone. The movie was a Telugu film dubbed in Hindi and other languages and starred Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, and Tamannaah Bhatia. Baahubali 2: The Conclusion was released on 28th April 2017 and went on to earn a total of Rs. 1810.28 crore at the box office.


The box office collections of Bollywood movies have been breaking records and creating new milestones. Aamir Khan is the actor who has the most number of movies in the Rs. 100 crore club, while Salman Khan has the most number of movies in the Rs. 200 crore club.
